This
is Wenche in her Hedmark bunad (1935 model), and her sister Turid in
Lundeby-drakt. She and her sister inherited this bunad
after her mother, and every 2 years Wenche use it on 17. May. Wenche
also have a Lundeby-drakt.

This
is the 1955-model of the Hedmarks bunad, with the red silk damask. I met

Hedmark Bunad model
This bunad was first created by Hedmark Fylkes Husflidskomite
[Hedmark County Home Crafts Committee] in 1935. The bunad was
based on the traditional folk costumes depicted in F.F.L. Dreier’s
watercolour entitled ‘Girl from Hedemark’ painted at the end of the
18th century. It was redesigned in 1955 because of improvements
in available fabrics. A copy of a bodice from Stange, in silk
damask, replaced the single-coloured wool waistcoat. A new
version of the Hedemark bunad was created once again in 1985 by
Ringsaker Bondekvinnelag, based on the same image as before.
But now both the shirt and the waistcoat were made in a woollen
fabric just as they were in the 1935 version.
