This is Nina, in her Vest
Telemark bunad. She inheritated it from her great grandmother. Nina has
two bunads, the other one is a red Trønder bunad. You can se a

About the Vest Telemark bunad
This bunad was inspired by the traditional folk costumes worn
from the start of the 19th century. Traditional folk costumes
changed during the 19th century, and the last costume which
could still be called ‘traditional’ had a skirt tapered at the seams
with the bodice inset sewn on, all in a dark colour. If we compare
this costume with today’s bunad, we see that the bodice inset that
was previously worn under the open jacket is no longer used.
Neither did the original skirts have rose-patterned embroidery
such as the one illustrated here. The original costumes also had
shorter bodices and jackets.
