Old pictures of Hardanger Bunads
This
is Lill Ann from USA, in her Hardanger bunad. She got it after her aunt.
This picture is around 50 years old! Lill Ann has still this little bunad
in her cedar chest, and it is in real good condition!
Thank you Lill Ann for sharing this little treasure with
us!

This
pictures from Ann Viking Sætre is taken around 1920-1930.
Notice the headscarf, only to be used by the married
women! Also, most of the women had the "fangbandet", also used
by the married women. |
On
this picture you can see Ann Viking Sætres paternal grandmother Gudrun as
number 2 from the left. The picture surely taken on a 17 May, earlier than
the next picture, as Gudrun looks a bit younger. |
This
is a more closeup on Gudrun, maybe taken on her confirmation around
1929-1930, maybe later, on her wedding-day?
On this picture you can see she have the "fangbandet",
and the tradition is that only married women should wear that, so, I
assume this is after her marriage.
Thank you to Ann Viking Sætre for sharing this pictures
with us! |
Take
a good look at this bodice inset! It is from the bunad above. It has the
initials of Gudruns mother, Johanne Svåsand (nee Johannesdatter Vikane),
born in 1887.
Thank you again, Ann!
